🌿 Vegetation Management and Wildfire Risk Reduction

Protecting the Land That Protects Us

Managing vegetation near homes and community boundaries is an important part of reducing wildfire risk. Proper maintenance can help limit the buildup of dry grasses, weeds, and other fuels that can contribute to fire spread.

LeydenReady's role is to provide education and information to residents about wildfire preparedness, defensible space, home hardening, evacuation readiness, and community awareness. LeydenReady does not conduct vegetation management activities in open space areas.

The open space surrounding our community is managed by the Metro District. The Metro District is actively evaluating, planning, budgeting, and implementing vegetation management activities along the community perimeter and fence lines. These efforts are intended to reduce wildfire risk while balancing environmental, operational, and budget considerations.

Residents can support community wildfire preparedness by:

  • Maintaining defensible space around their homes.

  • Removing dead vegetation and combustible materials from their property.

  • Following guidance from local fire agencies regarding wildfire mitigation.

  • Staying informed about Metro District vegetation management plans and community preparedness initiatives.

  • Signing up for emergency notifications and evacuation alerts.

Wildfire preparedness is most effective when community vegetation management, home hardening, defensible space, and emergency readiness work together. LeydenReady remains committed to helping residents understand these important concepts and prepare their households for emergencies.
